The Ochsner Concussion Management Program ensures you get a fast and accurate diagnosis. Our customized treatment plans get you back to doing what you love as quickly and safely as possible.

We have the largest team of concussion specialists in the Gulf South. Because all of our concussion specialists have completed additional fellowship training in sports medicine, sports neurology or traumatic brain injury, you can rest assured that they are up-to-date on the latest advancements in the field.

In addition to employing the most current evaluation protocols, including vestibular (balance) testing, our physicians use the same concussion tests used in collegiate and professional sports to help measure cognitive function after a concussion. We then work with you to develop an individualized plan for your safe return to play, school or work.

What Is ImPACT Testing?

This innovative neurocognitive test is specifically for athletes and others who are at risk for concussions. Here’s how it’s used.

  1. A baseline exam is administered before the start of the athletic season.
  2. If a concussion occurs, the test is retaken. The results are then compared to the baseline exam to help guide treatment.
  3. Even if a baseline test hasn’t been taken, ImPACT testing can be used after a concussion to help manage recovery.
