Four Tips For Getting Pregnant

1

Get a Pre-Conception Checkup

Schedule a visit with an OB/GYN doctor before you start trying so you can identify and manage any underlying medical conditions that could affect your pregnancy. Book your appointment with an Ochsner physician now.

2

Don’t Wait Until You Ovulate

Did you know that sperm can live inside your body for two to five days? Because of this, you can increase your chances of getting pregnant by having sex right before ovulation. This ensures the sperm is ready and waiting for the egg.

3

Have Frequent Sex (Without Lubricant)

Plan to have sex every other day during your ovulation window to make sure sperm is healthy and mature. And be aware that most lubricants can slow sperm down, making it harder to get pregnant. However, there are sperm-friendly options available.

4

Take a Close Look at Your Diet

Things like caffeine, alcohol, smoking and some medications can lower your fertility and pose a risk to the baby. Talk with your OB/GYN about what to cut out of your daily routine, and boost your intake of the good stuff — vegetables, fruit, lean protein and, of course, folic acid.

Connected MOM or Connected Maternity Online Monitoring, is a way to help expecting mothers manage their pregnancy from the comfort of home without the need to schedule an appointment.

Ask your doctor if you qualify for enrollment in Connected MOM.
